i saw an episode on Oprah couple of days back, really really touched my heart. Oprah's Angel Network in South Africa was the title. How lucky we are to be living in Singapore, having our family friends and our love ones, having a roof above our head, sufficient food to eat and millions more things which we simply took for granted.. i know there are still some of us which are considered unlucky, lived in poverty but despites all the unthinkable, our unluckines or poverty is far too near compared to theirs...

Poverty is the main issue in that country... i'm sure you guys have seen photos of the children there.. their bloated stomach due to malnutritions.. photos of the places they called home which was unsightly.. Sadly to say they are far more in worse situation then us.. AIDS is also another problem there.. majority of the population there are HIV positive.. their hospitals dont even have the proper equipment to deal with the condition there... such a pity... all the doctors can do there for those patients was to prescribe them with medication on the normal symptoms like headache and flu, just to ease their suffering even for a while although they are HIV infected... And one more thing i find that was really disturbing was that the older people there believes myths.... and the myths was that the only way to be cured of AIDS is to have sex with a VIRGIN.. simply outrageous ryte?

On that show, Oprah and her team decided to do something for the children there.. and it was to make a christmas party for them there.. putting on show for them and giving presents... it was really a treat for them.. i mean you could see it on their faces, joy and happiness was so evident! over 5000 kids under a enormous circus kinda tent partying away.. and the best part was when they received their presents, and the presents each child got was clothes, lots of them, a beg, school amenities, a Levis pants, sports shoes and many more. Whoah!, the kids was so so delighted... some were jumping around happily and some were crying happy tears and some was even lost for words.... Oprah was brought to the brim of tears but she cant cry in front of them.. she just could not... it was overwhelming.. even i myself can feel it.. the feeling was undescribable... for that moment, that very day, it was their day, where kids can be kids themselves, where worries are lifted for a while.. it maybe the one and only time where they can feel lucky, happy and receive presents... i'm happy for them..

it was really and eye-operner for me.. dear friends.. please treasure ure loved ones.. dont take thing for granted.. and when ure feeling down and feel like giving up for whatever the reasons that may be, just remember... theree are people in this world who are in far worse situation than you.. ure considered lucky... be thankful...
